Chris Sutton felt the best way Chelsea finished the Carabao Cup ultimate was 'gutless' and 'unforgiveable' as they wilted in extra-time and have been crushed 1-Zero by Liverpool at Wembley.
The Blues competed nicely within the ultimate over 90 minutes and missed a variety of good possibilities to score in normal time.
Mauricio Pochettino's aspect appeared the robust of the two going into extra-time, but regardless of Liverpool having to rely on a string of academy gamers coming off the bench, it was Chelsea that weakened.
Jurgen Klopp's staff acquired stronger and ultimately gained the match by way of a Virgil van Dijk header, with the previous Blues striker Sutton left unimpressed with Chelsea's battle.
Sutton was notably offended by Pochettino saying: 'The gamers began to lose their power. The group felt perhaps penalties can be good for us.'
'Chelsea appear to be a soulless club at this second in time,' Sutton stated on Mail Sport's It's All Kicking Off podcast.
'Liverpool had half a workforce yesterday and Liverpool didn't take their opportunity and then when all the youngsters went on, in case you're a Chelsea player at that moment, that should have been the second once you thought "what a chance we've", and but they retreated and needed penalties. That's pretty gutless, that's unforgivable.'
The previous Celtic and Blackburn striker agreed with Gary Neville's assessment that Chelsea were 'bottle jobs' at the end of the final.
'Chelsea finished the second half with the momentum, with the probabilities,' Sutton continued.
'At that exact second when Liverpool have been placing kid after child on, the Chelsea staff had far higher experience. This was a chance for them to assume "let's obtained for the jugular, let's odor blood. What an incredible probability to rework our season and get individuals talking about Chelsea again".
'Gary Neville used the word they "bottled" it. It's arduous to disagree with that. They should have taken the game to Liverpool and been braver in that second in time, they usually didn't.'
