Rachel Zegler has claimed that West Side Story bosses questioned her Colombian heritage. The actress, 23, has said she felt utter confusion at having 'a bunch of white executives have you prove your identity to them', as she spoke in a new interview. She starred as María in Steven Spielberg's 2021 remake of West Side Story. It comes as her new Snow White movie has been surrounded with controversy with criticism and fears that the remake prioritized 'woke' messaging over authentic storytelling.
