Tucked inside the main pocket on the front of a pair of jeans is a much smaller, square pocket which, if the internet is anything to go by, has myriad uses. Yet the teeny-tiny pocket that featured on the first ever pair of jeans back in 1873 - and still remains on the garment today - wasn't intended for 'emergency quarters' or a 'lighter' but for a once-popular personal item that is now all but obsolete.
