This is the terrifying moment a kayaker had to use his paddle to fend off a shark as the beast circled him off a Spanish holiday island. The man decided to act after seeing the predator starting to circle him and come in nearer while he enjoyed a day out off La Palma in the Canaries. The shark was identified as a hammerhead, the same type most experts believe could have been responsible for attacking a German woman last Monday on a British-flagged catarman who died as she was airlifted to a hospital in Gran Canaria.
